Satisfy IS-BAO medical and security recommendations

The International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Annex 6 Part 2 mandates general aviation aircraft operators flying to international destinations implement an SMS to mitigate risk and improve safety.

International flight departments can comply with ICAO’s requirements by registering with the International Business Aviation Council’s (IBAC) code of best practices, known as the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO).

MedAire helps satisfy IS-BAO medical recommendations via:

  • Annual cabin and flight crew medical training, including first aid and the location, operation and use of equipment, through MedAire’s signature course, Management of In-flight Illness and Injury.
  • Aviation-specific AEDs for onboard use by crew and passengers, including annual refurbishment and battery replacement throughout its lifecycle, managed by MedAire.
  • SMS best practices include in-flight and ground-based medical and travel advice and aviation-specific medical first aid equipment.
  • As part of the security programme recommendations in section 15.
